About Us
Bridges of Hope, a social-action ministry founded by Community Covenant
Church, Goleta, California, has joined the battle against AIDS
in Africa. Bridges of Hope partners Christians from around the
world with the people of those nations most affected by the AIDS
epidemic, to create long-term, self-sustaining solutions to the
challenges they face. In 2002, Bridges of Hope sent a team to South
Africa for two months in response to that country's growing AIDS
problem.
More than 5 million of South Africa's 43 million people are HIV-positive.
Each week more than 5,000 people die from AIDS-related complications.
Each year, over 150,000 children are orphanced by AIDS, taxing
the courntry's already inadequate care-giving infrastructure. It
is estimated that nearly half of South Africa's population under
age 15 will die before reaching the age 25.
The Bridges of Hope team in South Africa is working to unite community
members, volunteers, and local churches in a grass-roots community
tranformation effort. Each week brings exciting advancements in
the awareness and concern of the community for its suffering population.

The
Wadley Family
Dennis and Susan Wadley moved to South Africa to
work on the Bridges of Hope efforts full-time in
February of 2003. Together with Muleki (pictured center) and
other local pastors, community members, and volunteers, the Wadleys
hope to build a grass-roots effort to transform the communities
in South Africa.
