Tracey's Letter
Here is a huge answer to prayer regarding the outreach to prostitutes that
Bridges of Hope helped to fund in downtown Cape Town during the Christmas
season:
10 January 2003
Dear Dennis and friends,
Hi, my name is Tracey and I come from a town in the Northern Transvaal,
about 40 km from Sun City. After a marriage of 24 years, I got divorced in
May last year, and shortly after that I relocated to Cape Town. I have
three children aged 24, 22 and 11 and they live with their dad. When I
moved to Cape Town, I had these big dreams and plans to make a wonderful new
start in a very beautiful city, and then to have my son aged 11 to come and
live with me.
Unfortunately, after a few months of struggling to find a job, I ran out of
money. I woke up one morning and decided that the only way out was to
commit suicide, as I had no money left, or anything left to sell, to pay at
least for my accommodation. As I stood staring at a building, I was
contemplating jumping from, a man driving past me, stopped and offered me R
300 for sex. That is how it all started, but through the grace of God, only
for three weeks.
Madri and her team found me after two weeks, and a week later they brought
me to a safe place. They provided everything I needed, physically as well
as spiritually. I have now accepted the Lord Jesus as my Saviour and serve
Him now. I have been told by the team about you and your team, that
provided the funds that literally saved my life and I'm sure the lives of
many others. I would just like to thank you all, although words could never
express how much I appreciate what you guys have done for me. I thank the
Lord for such wonderful, kind and caring people like you and your team.
God Bless you!
Greetings
Tracey
