Welcome to Bridges of Hope!
Bridges of Hope is a social-action organization dedicated to helping
in the fight against AIDS in Africa. Bridges of Hope connects people
from around the world with people of those nations most affected
by the AIDS epidemic, to create long-term, self-sustaining solutions
to the challenges they face.
South Africa Project
The Bridges of Hope South Africa Project was
developed in response to the AIDS pandemic that has ravaged the
nation of South Africa to a greater extent than any other country
on earth.
- This nation of 43 million has more than
5.3 million known AIDS sufferers.
- Statistics indicate that 50% of today's youth
under the age of 15 in South Africa will die within the next 10
years.
- The AIDS pandemic in South Africa is producing
approximately 150,000 orphaned children per year, for which there
is not an adequate infrastructure to provide care. It is projected
that there will be 5 million AIDS orphans by 2008.
It is our hope and prayer that people from around
the world will unite to provide sacrificial immediate aid to those
in South Africa suffering from AIDS and its devastating effects
on this nation, and to partner with them in creating long term,
self-sustaining solutions to their serious needs.

".... Let us not equivocate: a tragedy
of unprecedented proportions is unfolding in Africa. AIDS
today in Africa is claiming more lives than the sum total
of all wars, famines and floods, and the ravages of such
deadly diseases as malaria."

Tracey's Letter
Dear Dennis and friends,
Hi, my name is Tracey and I come from a town in the Northern Transvaal,
about 40 km from Sun City. After a marriage of 24 years, I got divorced in
May last year, and shortly after that I relocated to Cape Town. I have
three children aged 24, 22 and 11 and they live with their dad. When I
moved to Cape Town, I had these big dreams and plans to make a wonderful new
start in a very beautiful city, and then to have my son aged 11 to come and
live with me.
Unfortunately, after a few months of struggling to find a job, I ran out of
money. I woke up one morning and decided that the only way out was to
commit suicide...
